Characters: Yuma Tsukumo, Kotori Mizuki
Synopsis: When Kotori's two-week stay at Domino City over the winter holidays comes to an end, Yuma sees her off at the train station.

The past two weeks had seemed like they had flown by for Yuma and Kotori and it had come to the Sunday where Kotori had to leave Domino City and return to Heartland.

The two teenagers had decided to meet up early in the city, so they could spend some last minute time together. They walked around Domino for a bit, they went to a cafe in the plaza for lunch, they talked about stupid things together... it was all very relaxing.
But the two soon found time had caught up to them and before they knew it, they were arriving at the Domino City train station to await Kotori's train home.

"Thanks for visiting me, Kotori." Yuma began. "I'm glad we got to spend time together and that you enjoyed meeting my friends here, even though the visit got a bit bumpy for a bit..."

'A bit bumpy' was an understatement, a big one, but Kotori didn't want to concentrate on that right now.

"Just promise me that you'll stay safe and keep me informed about things, okay?" Kotori replied. Yuma nodded.

"I promise I'll tell you everything from now on. No matter what! Though..." He paused before continuing. "Try to not tell my sis or granny about what's been going on... I know I shouldn't keep it from them either but, I don't want them to pull me out of the Academy because they think it's dangerous."

"I'll use my best judgement. If I feel that there is something that they need to know about, I will tell them, but otherwise... we'll keep everything between us."

Yuma seemed satisfied with that answer. They exchanged glances and smiles. Both of them really didn't want the holiday time to end, they didn't really want to part ways again, but they knew they had to.
Kotori took her phone out from her coat pocket to check the time, before popping it back.

"My train will be here soon." she said, as she bent down to pick up her suitcase.

"Kotori, wait!"

Yuma reached out and gently grabbed her arm, stopping her from picking up the suitcase. She looked up curiously, only to be met by Yuma's slightly awkward looking face.
He really didn't know what he was stopping her for. He felt like he wanted to say something... but it was like the words in his head weren't really connecting to his mouth.

"Yuma...? Is something wrong?"

Kotori stood up, maintaining eye contact with him, but his eye contact was all over the place. He didn't know whether to look at her or look away, or what to say or do. He didn't understand why he was being so hesitant and awkward with her.
Without thinking, he moved his arms around her and pulled her into a gentle hug. Although a little surprised at first from this sudden gesture, Kotori responded by putting her arms around him and resting her head against his shoulder.

She'd noticed it. Especially within the last week.
He was starting to acknowledge her feelings towards him.
And he was starting to reciprocate.
But she could tell that he wasn't fully understanding it. His awkwardness, his hesitance. He just wasn't ready yet to accept those feelings.
But that was okay. She'd wait as long as she needed to for him.

As the train pulled up, it drowned out all the sound around them, except the four words Yuma spoke to her;

"...I've really missed you."

Kotori's eye widened as she heard him admit to missing her these last few years. She then closed her eyes with a content sigh, just enjoying what little time they had left together.
Eventually she let go and the hug between them broke. Kotori gave him a mischievous look, before poking him lightly in the chest with her finger.

"Then you'd better not leave it so long next time!" she told him. "Make sure to come and visit us at Heartland."

Yuma laughed and smiled at her.

"I promise I will! If I don't make it for any other holidays, then next Christmas for sure! I'll come and see you all!"

Kotori smiled as she picked up her suitcase. "I look forward to it!"

With that, she moved towards the door of the train, stepping up into it. For a moment, she paused, then she looked back towards Yuma.

"Kattobing, Yuma!!"

Yuma grinned and nodded back at her with confidence. "Ah!!"

"So long, Yuma!"

"Goodbye, Kotori!!"

Yuma watched as Kotori entered the train and chose a seat by the window. As the train eventually began pulling out, Yuma moved alongside the train on the platform in order to wave to her, as she waved back. When he got to the end of the platform, Yuma simply kept on waving, until the train disappeared from his sight. Afterwards, he gradually lowered his hand and then placed both of his hands in the pockets of his coat.
He stayed there for a moment, just looking down the track where the train had gone, then with a content smile on his face, he began walking towards the exit of the train station.
