Characters: Juudai Yuuki, Pharaoh, Yubel, Winged Kuriboh, Daitokuji
Synopsis: In an attempt to get to the bottom of why Pharaoh is stealing food, Juudai follows him and finds a small surprise.
"Alright, this should do it..."
Peeking out from behind the door to his apartment, Juudai looked at the single piece of fried shrimp he had set down not too far from his door. If Pharaoh was stealing food, then there was no doubt in Juudai's mind that the cat would fall for his bait.
He didn't have to wait long until Pharaoh began trotting towards the food. Taking a cautious sniff first, he soon picked up the fried shrimp in his mouth.
"AH-HA! GOT YOU!"
Juudai's sudden appearance startled the cat and he darted quickly for the exit of the apartments.
"Argh! damnit!"
Juudai followed Pharaoh quickly as the cat ran out onto the busy streets of Domino city, not taking much care for the people or traffic in his way. Juudai franticly struggled to keep up with his cat, all the while ignoring the strange looks he was getting from the people he was passing by.
It always surprised him how agile Pharaoh was for his size.
Pharaoh darted in between cars and led Juudai down alleyways, sometimes accidently knocking over trashcans in the process which got in Juudai's way.
This cat just didn't want to be caught.
Eventually, Juudai got to the end of one alleyway, and looked around.
He couldn't see Pharaoh anywhere.
"Great... I lost him..."
"Admitting defeat to that animal, Juudai~ My you have lost your touch"
Juudai looked up to see Yubel stood beside him, smirking.
"He completely out-ran me! He has four legs, I only have two!" With that, he gave out a long sigh and leant against the wall of a building beside him. "Maybe this wasn't the best plan after all"
As he stood there, Hane Kuriboh appeared beside him and peered around the corner of the building. Something caught her eye so called Juudai to take a look.
"Kurii!"
"Hm, what is it, Aibou?"
Peering around the building, Juudai caught the glimmer of a small round ball of light, that disappeared into the next alleyway up from where they were stood.
"...Daitokuji-sensei...?"
Curiously, Juudai walked up to the alleyway. Once there he looked in to see Pharaoh sat there, along with all the food he had stolen over the past few days... and what seemed to be a very small white and grey kitten.
"Well what do you know... Allen was right"
As quietly as he could, he approached the two cats and knelt down beside the kitten. It didn't seem to be moving and the food beside it seemed barely touched... he couldn't help but think the food Pharaoh had brought to it wouldn't of been healthy for it anyway, not that the stuff bothered Pharaoh all that much, he'd eat anything.
Carefully, Juudai reached out and poked the kitten lightly, he was relieved to see it move and try and get up to see what had poked at it, but it quickly fell back down. It was too weak to get up.
"He found it a few days ago, nya~"
Juudai looked up to see the transparent figure of his former teacher stood behind him, looking quite sullen at the situation. Juudai looked back at the kitten, which was now just laying where it was.
"Well, we can't just leave it here..."
With that, Juudai quickly took off his jacket and placed it over the small kitten. He then carefully picked it up and made sure it was wrapped up comfortably.
"Don't worry, Cairo~ Juudai-kun will make sure to take good care of you nya~"
Juudai looked up and Daitokuji with a puzzled expression.
"Cairo...?"
"A cat has to have a name, nya~"
"Humm, fine, fine. I better get this little guy to a vet or something"
Juudai quickly bolted off down the road, knowing if he didn't find someone to help the kitten soon, it probably wouldn't last much longer. Daitokuji turned back into a shining ball of light as he watched Juudai run off.
"A-Ah, Juudai-kun! Wait for m--" He didn't get to finish the sentence as Pharaoh pounced on him and swallowed him, before taking off after Juudai.
Juudai just hoped he could find a vet that was open in time.
